I am Jacki Tibbitts and currently live in Merritt Island, FL. Married for 34 years and have two daughters who have graced me with three grandchildren. Originally from Massachusetts, moved to Orlando in 1993 and then over to Merritt Island in 2005.
I love creating things! I started with scrapbooking then veered off into making cards which turned into all sorts of paper crafts. I do custom orders for thermos-style tumblers, cutting boards, home decor pieces, serving trays and more.
Started as a Creative Memories independent consultant for five years before moving on to Close To My Heart where I was an independent consultant and supervisor of the Artsy Tidbits team for 8.5 years. I've earned my crafting version of the PhD with Close To My Heart. (I keep reminding myself that PHD can also stand for "Projects Half Done"!)
Two days a month I hold a card making class at the Sunflower House at the Merritt Square Mall. It is a community caregiver and senior resource center. We have a lot of fun! It takes me about a day to design the cards that I will be teaching. I pre-cut most of the paper to make it easier on anyone with physical limitations. Most cards just need a glue stick to assemble, deliberately so. Keeping things simple and easy is the key to actually getting anything done!
I am also a member of the Spina Bifida Association of Central Florida fundraising group for their annual Walk N Roll Fundraiser. My granddaughter Lily has spina bifida and the SBACFL is an amazing resource for families affected.
I grab my ideas from every day life - the colors on a cereal box, the flowers growing together in a garden. Close To My Heart also provides its consultants and customers with an annual Idea Book full of fun projects and hints to make crafting easier.
Initially, I wanted my children and grandchildren to know me through my photos and writing in my scrapbooks. Then I saw the joy that others expressed when receiving a card or a mini album or party decoration that I had make just for them. I love teaching others to find that joy in their life. Helping others realize that they ARE creative and praising how they choose to express their creativity is an incredible feeling.
Crafting has taught me patience... and if things don't work out the way you had planned, go on to Plan B. There are 26 letters in the alphabet for a reason!
I have just set up this website (JackiFL.com) with a blog and store for online shopping!!! I love doing local craft fairs and plan to be at at least one per quarter in 2017. The website will also be set up to help those who want to custom order - well - anything!
My last thought - Get
your photos OFF your phone and
into albums with your thoughts, memories and comments
written down for your kids, grandkids and future
generations to enjoy!!!
